Scoring methods

Ring Close Count

Close a ring, score a point. Three rings, up to 3 points a day.

Ring Close Count gives you 1 point for each ring you close in a day: Move, Exercise and Steps. Each ring is measured against your own goal, so 3 is the most anyone can score in a day. Points add up over the competition, and the highest total wins.

How points work

  1. Each day, our servers check your synced activity against your own Move, Exercise and Steps goals.
  2. A ring counts once you reach its goal. Each closed ring is 1 point.
  3. Close all three for 3 points, the most a day can give. A ring at 99% scores nothing.
  4. Your day is scored again every time your activity syncs, so a late walk still counts.

A worked example

Your goals are 500 calories, 30 exercise minutes and 8,000 steps. On Tuesday you log:

  • 620 calories: Move closed, 1 point
  • 22 exercise minutes: Exercise not closed, 0 points
  • 9,400 steps: Steps closed, 1 point

Tuesday scores 2 points. Close all three every day of a week and you finish on 21.

Who it suits

Groups who already chase their rings. Finishing is what counts: once a ring is closed, extra activity adds nothing, and everyone is measured against their own goals.

Ties

Equal scores share a rank. When people or teams tie for first at the end of a round, they all win. A round where nobody scored has no winner.

With at most 3 points a day, ties are common here.
