About 7.05 km
Your estimated step: about 28 in
How the estimate works
Height sets the base
A walking step is roughly 41% of your height. That is the rule of thumb most pedometers use.
Speed stretches it
Steps get longer as you speed up. We scale from about 37% of your height on a slow walk to about 95% on a sprint.
It's a ballpark
Leg length, hills and tired legs all change your step. For your real number, walk a known distance, like one lap of a 400 m track, and count.
How many steps in a mile?
Estimated steps per mile and per kilometer, by height.
| Height | Brisk walk, per mile | Run, per mile | Brisk walk, per km | Run, per km |
