The honest answer for WHOOP wearers

Use both. WHOOP is one of our data sources.

Authenticate WHOOP in MoveTogether onboarding and every workout your strap logs flows in. The WHOOP Coach for strain/recovery keeps doing its thing; MoveTogether adds a cross-device leaderboard on top. WHOOP vs MoveTogether, briefly answered.

Does MoveTogether replace WHOOP?

No. WHOOP is a 24/7 strain + recovery + sleep wearable with built-in coaching. MoveTogether is a competition layer that sits above your wearable. Keep wearing WHOOP for strain/recovery insight; add MoveTogether so your WHOOP workouts can compete against friends on Apple Watch, Garmin, Fitbit, etc.

How does WHOOP Teams compare to MoveTogether competitions?

WHOOP Teams (Strain Coach competitions) score on strain among WHOOP wearers — beautiful for WHOOP-native groups. MoveTogether scores across nine platforms with five scoring methods, custom date ranges, team mode, and live leaderboards. Different products, different audiences — your WHOOP team can keep running, and you can also be in a MoveTogether competition with non-WHOOP friends.

I'm worried Step Count competitions won't work for me with WHOOP. Is that right?

Correct — WHOOP doesn't measure steps by design. For mixed-device competitions that include WHOOP users, recommend Workout Based or Percentage of Goals scoring instead. Those are cross-device-fair and don't penalize WHOOP for not counting steps. See /features/wearables/whoop for the full scoring guidance.

Can I connect my WHOOP to MoveTogether?

Yes. During onboarding, pick the WHOOP option and authenticate with your WHOOP account via OAuth. Every WHOOP workout (manual or auto-detected) and your active calories feed MoveTogether competitions automatically. See /features/wearables/whoop for the integration details.

Does MoveTogether use my WHOOP recovery score?

No. Recovery is information for you, not a competitive metric. We focus on output (workouts, exercise duration, active calories), which is what's fair to compare across device brands.

WHOOP costs a lot. Is MoveTogether cheaper?

Different cost structures. WHOOP's subscription bundles the strap — $30/mo or $239/yr (US 2026, verify on whoop.com) but includes hardware. MoveTogether is software-only: free tier exists, Pro is $12.99/mo or $99.99/yr (Apple in-app) / $9.99/mo or $79.99/yr (web). If you have WHOOP, the cost-effective combo is WHOOP for the strap + MoveTogether's free tier for competitions.

What about HRV-based competitions? Does MoveTogether use HRV?

No. HRV is too personal and too noisy to score competitions on. Your HRV depends on your sleep, your training history, your stress, your physiology — comparing HRVs across people doesn't produce a meaningful leaderboard. We score on activity output, which is fair across people.

Keep WHOOP. Add the cross-device leaderboard.

Free on the App Store. WHOOP OAuth in two taps during onboarding — every workout your strap logs feeds competitions automatically. Best paired with Workout Based or Percentage of Goals scoring.
