Community Guidelines
How we keep the MoveTogether fitness community safe, supportive, and fair for everyone.
Welcome to MoveTogether! We're building a supportive fitness community where users of all fitness levels can compete, encourage each other, and celebrate progress together. These Community Guidelines exist to keep MoveTogether safe, positive, and fair for everyone. They are part of, and work alongside, our Terms and Conditions and Acceptable Use Policy. By using MoveTogether, you agree to follow these guidelines.
Respectful interaction
MoveTogether is for everyone, regardless of fitness level, experience, or background. We expect all users to:
- Treat all community members with kindness, empathy, and respect
- Never harass, bully, intimidate, threaten, or personally attack anyone
- Never use hate speech, slurs, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, medical condition, body size, fitness level, or any other characteristic
- Never mock, belittle, or discourage others based on their fitness abilities or progress
- Never direct unwanted sexual advances, romantic solicitation, or sexually suggestive comments at others
- Never doxx, stalk, or share others' personal information without explicit consent
- Never encourage or incite others to violate these guidelines
- Never create accounts to circumvent enforcement actions or to harass users who have blocked you
We celebrate all fitness journeys. Someone walking their first mile deserves the same respect as someone running a marathon.
Appropriate content
All content shared on MoveTogether (including profile photos, competition photos, activity posts, comments, display names, and any other user-generated content) must be appropriate for a general audience. The following is strictly prohibited:
- Nudity, partial nudity, or sexually explicit content
- Graphic violence, gore, or disturbing imagery
- Content depicting or promoting illegal activities
- Content depicting or promoting drug use, excessive alcohol consumption, or substance abuse
- Weapons, unless in the context of legitimate sporting activities
- Offensive, vulgar, or profane usernames, display names, or profile content
- Misleading content or impersonation of other individuals, brands, or organizations
- Content that infringes intellectual property rights (copyrighted images, logos, etc.)
- Spam, advertisements, or promotional content for external products or services
- Malicious links, phishing attempts, or malware
- Content designed to shock, disturb, or offend
You represent that you own or have the rights to any content you share, and that you have the consent of every identifiable person shown in a photo or video you upload. Profile photos must clearly depict you or an appropriate avatar. Content that is misleading, offensive, or violates any of the above will be removed.
Fair play and competition integrity
Fair competition is fundamental to MoveTogether. All users must compete honestly. The following are strictly prohibited:
- Falsifying, manipulating, or artificially inflating fitness data through any means
- Using devices, apps, or methods to generate fake steps, calories, or activity data
- Shaking, swinging, or attaching fitness trackers to pets, vehicles, or other objects to generate false data
- Manually entering fabricated workout data
- Exploiting bugs, glitches, or vulnerabilities for competitive advantage
- Creating multiple accounts to gain unfair advantages in competitions
- Colluding with other users to manipulate competition outcomes
- Using bots, scripts, or automated tools to interact with the app
- Intentionally disrupting competitions or other users' experiences
- Publicly accusing other users of cheating (use the in-app reporting feature instead)
We use automated systems and manual review to detect fraudulent activity. Users found cheating may have their scores corrected and their accounts suspended or terminated.
If you suspect another user is cheating, report it through the app. Do not engage in public accusations, which can constitute harassment.

- Do not promote dangerous, extreme, or medically unsound fitness practices

- Do not shame others for their eating habits, body size, or fitness choices
- Do not provide medical advice or diagnose health conditions

- Do not access other users' accounts without authorization
- Use a strong, unique password for your MoveTogether account
- Enable additional security features when available
- Log out of shared devices after use
- Notify us immediately through the in-app support chat or Mo, our support assistant if you believe your account has been compromised
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Do not allow others to use your account to violate these guidelines.
Minors and child safety
MoveTogether is intended for users aged 13 and older (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). In the EEA and UK, where a higher digital-consent age applies (up to 16 in some countries), the Service is not intended for users below that age. Users under 18 are considered minors.
- Users under 13 are prohibited from using MoveTogether
- Users between 13 and 17 should have parental or guardian consent
- Do not engage in any inappropriate communication with minors
- Do not request personal information, photos, or contact information from minors
- Do not share content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers minors in any way
- Report any concerning interactions involving minors immediately
We have zero tolerance for any content or behavior that exploits or endangers children. Violations will result in immediate account termination and may be reported to law enforcement.
Intellectual property
Respect intellectual property rights:
- Do not upload content you do not have the right to share
- Do not use copyrighted images, music, logos, or other materials without proper authorization
- Do not infringe on trademarks or trade dress
- MoveTogether's name, logo, and branding are protected; do not use them without written permission
- If you believe your intellectual property has been infringed, contact Mo, our support assistant (see the copyright/DMCA section of our Terms and Conditions)
Third-party services and integrations
MoveTogether integrates with third-party fitness platforms and services (Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin, WHOOP, Oura, Strava, Polar, and Google Health):
- You are responsible for complying with the terms of any connected third-party services
- MoveTogether is not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or functionality of third-party services
- Data synced from third-party services is subject to our Privacy Policy
- Disconnecting third-party services may affect your ability to participate in competitions
Reporting violations
If you witness or experience a violation of these Community Guidelines, please report it:
- In-app reporting: use the report feature available on profiles, posts, photos, and competition screens
- Mo, our support assistant: use the Mo widget in the bottom-right corner on desktop, tap "Talk to Mo" on mobile, or the in-app support chat
- Include as much detail as possible: usernames involved, screenshots, and a description of the incident
All reports are reviewed by our team. We may not be able to disclose specific actions taken due to privacy considerations, but we take all reports seriously.
Do not engage in vigilante enforcement. Public accusations, harassment of suspected violators, or attempting to "punish" other users yourself is a violation of these guidelines.
Enforcement and consequences
We enforce these guidelines to maintain a safe and positive community. Violations may result in one or more of the following, depending on severity:
- Content removal: violating content may be removed without notice
- Warning: notice of a violation with an opportunity to correct behavior
- Temporary suspension: account access is suspended for a defined period; while suspended, you cannot use the app and your competition scores are frozen (activity during the suspension does not count)
- Permanent ban: account permanently banned with no option to create a new account
- Legal action: in cases involving illegal activity, we may report to law enforcement and pursue legal remedies
Factors we consider include the severity of the violation, whether it was intentional, its impact on other users, any history of past violations, and cooperation with our investigation.
How we moderate. We use a combination of automated (AI) systems and human review to detect and act on violations. Automated systems may block or remove violating content — including photos and chat messages — in real time. Repeated or more serious violations escalate: a first violation generally results in a warning, further violations in a temporary suspension, and continued or severe violations in a permanent ban. The most serious violations (see the Zero-tolerance policy below) result in an immediate permanent ban.
Transparency. When we take action on your account, we tell you what happened and why. You can review your current account standing, the specific reason for any warning or suspension, and start a review request at any time from Settings → Account Status in the app.
We reserve the right to take any action we deem necessary to protect our community, including actions not listed above.
Appeals
If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you may appeal:
- In the app: go to Settings → Account Status and tap Request a review
- Mo, our support assistant: use the Mo widget in the bottom-right corner on desktop, or tap "Talk to Mo" on mobile. Tell Mo it's a moderation appeal, and include the action taken and why you believe it was incorrect
Appeals are reviewed independently of the original decision. Automated review resolves clear cases quickly and can reverse an action right away; decisions to uphold a suspension or ban — and any case our systems cannot confidently resolve on their own — are reviewed by a member of our team. We aim to respond within 72 hours, and no later than 7 business days. You may request a review for up to 6 months after an action. During an appeal, any suspension remains in effect unless we determine otherwise.
Zero-tolerance policy
Certain violations result in immediate, permanent termination with no appeal:
- Content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers minors
- Credible threats of violence against individuals or groups
- Terrorism or violent extremism
- Sharing non-consensual intimate images
- Human trafficking or exploitation
- Attempting to harm MoveTogether's systems or infrastructure
These violations may also be reported to law enforcement.
Interactions with other users; disclaimer and risk
MoveTogether provides a platform for users to track fitness and compete. We do not:
- Guarantee the accuracy of fitness data from any source
- Guarantee the availability or uptime of our services
- Endorse any user-generated content
- Verify users' identities, qualifications, or claims
- Provide medical, nutritional, or professional fitness advice
You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users, online and offline. We do not screen users, and we are not responsible for the conduct of any user.
USERS PARTICIPATE IN FITNESS ACTIVITIES AT THEIR OWN RISK. To the fullest extent permitted by law, MoveTogether and its affiliates are not responsible for any injuries, health issues, or damages resulting from fitness activities, competition participation, interactions with other users, or reliance on information provided through the app, including Coach Mo. For the full legal terms, including the assumption of risk, release, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution, see our Terms and Conditions.
Changes to these guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date, and where appropriate notify you in the app or by email, consistent with the acceptance and updates mechanism in our Terms and Conditions. Continued use of MoveTogether after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
