How people compete with MoveTogether

Most groups start with one competition format that fits their schedule. These three setups show up again and again on live leaderboards, plus a result from a published App Store review.

Weekend sprint between friends

Run a weekend competition when nobody has time for a full month. Friends using iPhone, Apple Watch, or Garmin land on the same live leaderboard today; Android friends join it too, scored from Move, Exercise, and Steps.

Family challenge with mixed fitness levels

Parents, teenagers, and a phone-only member compete fairly with Percentage of Goals scoring. Everyone is measured by how completely they reach personal daily targets—not who records the biggest raw numbers.

Weekly Move League when the group is not ready

Join a fresh weekly cohort of up to 30 people at your tier. Top finishers promote, lower finishers may demote, and every account can play free across ten tiers from Walker to Legend.

User success story

Solo workouts turned into shared accountability

Verbatim from a published 5-star App Store review.

Working out can get boring, but MoveTogether makes it feel like a social experience. I like that I can see how my friends are doing, compete in challenges, and help each other stay motivated, along with the help of the awesome Mo. Highly recommend everyone checks it out!

Before you install

Does MoveTogether have a native Apple Watch app?

Yes. MoveTogether includes a native Apple Watch companion app with on-wrist ring tracking, live competition progress, and watch face complications. Install it from the App Store alongside the iPhone app; one account covers both.

Which devices does MoveTogether work on?

MoveTogether runs on iPhone with iOS 17 or later and ships a native Apple Watch companion app. Android is in open beta on Google Play, so iPhone and Android friends will get the same competitions, live leaderboards, and weekly Move Leagues.

Do I need a smartwatch to use MoveTogether?

No. On iPhone, Apple Health counts steps and estimates Active Energy from the phone itself, so you can compete carrying nothing else. On Android, MoveTogether reads what your phone and other fitness apps write to Health Connect.

Which fitness trackers can I connect?

Two paths. Apple Health covers Apple Watch, connected equipment, 100+ Apple Health-compatible fitness apps, or an iPhone on its own. Or connect Google Health/Fitbit, Garmin, WHOOP, Strava, Polar, Oura, or Ultrahuman directly. Suunto is coming soon. You manage all of it in Settings, Data Sources.

Can Android and iPhone friends compete against each other?

Android and iPhone members join the same competitions and appear on the same leaderboard, because scoring runs on our servers from the same Move, Exercise and Steps metrics no matter which device recorded them.

What does it cost to get started?

Nothing. The Free plan is free forever and includes up to 2 active competitions, ring tracking on every supported wearable, leaderboards, Move Leagues, and 5 lifetime Coach Mo messages, alongside contextual, non-personalized ads. Pro starts at $9.99 a month on web or $12.99 in-app.

What happens after I install the app?

Sign in with Apple or Google, pick a username, and set your daily goals. The defaults are 500 Move calories, 30 Exercise minutes, and 8,000 Steps. Then connect a data source and invite the people you want to compete with. Setup takes about two minutes.
