Google Fitbit vs MoveTogether: when each platform wins.
Google Fitbit (the app, the Challenges, the community feed) is excellent for Fitbit hardware owners — great Challenges, deep sleep tracking, a big community. But Fitbit Challenges are Fitbit-only. MoveTogether is the layer that lets your Fitbit activity compete against friends on Apple Watch, Garmin, WHOOP, Oura, and the rest.
Bottom line
Pick Google Fitbit if your friend group is entirely on Fitbit hardware and you love the Fitbit Challenges + Adventures + community feed.
Pick MoveTogether if your friends are on mixed wearables and you want everyone on one leaderboard, with AI coaching and five scoring methods.
Use both. Keep running Fitbit Challenges with your Fitbit-native friends. Add MoveTogether for the mixed-device crew — Google Fitbit is one of our supported OAuth integrations, so your activity flows in automatically.

Google Fitbit vs MoveTogether, briefly answered.
Does MoveTogether replace Google Fitbit?
No. They live in different layers. Google Fitbit is the tracker + app + community for Fitbit hardware (and now Pixel Watch). MoveTogether is a cross-platform competition layer that reads Fitbit activity — and Apple Watch, Garmin, WHOOP, Oura, etc. — and puts everyone on one leaderboard. Keep your Fitbit setup, add MoveTogether for friends who aren't on Fitbit.
I love Fitbit Challenges. Why would I also use MoveTogether?
Because Fitbit Challenges are Fitbit-only. If your friend group has Garmin users, Apple Watch users, WHOOP users — they can't join your Fitbit Challenge. MoveTogether's whole point is that everyone shows up on the same leaderboard regardless of device. You can absolutely run both: Fitbit Challenges with your Fitbit friends, MoveTogether for the mixed-device crew.
Can I connect my Google Fitbit to MoveTogether?
Yes. During MoveTogether onboarding, pick the Google Fitbit option and sign in with your Google account. Your Fitbit Air, Charge 6, Inspire 3, Versa 4, Sense 2, or Ace LTE syncs activity directly into MoveTogether competitions. See /features/wearables/fitbit for the integration details + how we're handling the Google Health API transition.
Does my Google Pixel Watch work with MoveTogether?
Not yet. Pixel Watch lives on the Google Health platform, which we'll connect to via the upcoming OpenWearables Google Health API integration — before September 2026 (when Google retires the older Fitbit Web API). Until then, Pixel Watch users will need to wait. We'll announce when it ships.
How does the Fitbit Premium AI coach compare to Coach Mo?
Fitbit's AI features are newer and integrated into the Fitbit Premium subscription. Coach Mo is built around your real activity AND has explicit personalities (Default, Drill Sergeant, Hype Man, Big Sibling, Sports Analyst), long-term memory in editable Files, and Roast Mode. They're different products solving overlapping problems — try both and see which voice you want in your head.
How does pricing compare?
Both have free tiers. Google Fitbit Premium (now bundling into Google Health Premium) is ~$9.99/mo or ~$79.99/yr (verify on store.google.com — pricing is in transition during the Google rebrand). MoveTogether Pro is $12.99/mo or $99.99/yr on iOS (Apple in-app), or $9.99/mo or $79.99/yr on web.
I'm on Android with a Pixel — should I just wait for MoveTogether on Play Store?
Yes. MoveTogether is iOS-only today; the Google Play launch is Q3 2026. Sign up at /android for the launch waitlist. The Pixel Watch + Google Health API integration arrives in the same migration window, so Android + Pixel Watch will land together.
Keep your Fitbit. Add the cross-device leaderboard.
Free on the App Store. Connect Google Fitbit in two taps during onboarding and your Charge / Inspire / Versa / Sense / Ace activity flows into competitions automatically.
