Exercise Minutes

Definition

Minutes of brisk activity tracked by Apple Watch and Apple Health. Anything that raises your heart rate at the level of a brisk walk or above for at least one minute counts. The default daily goal is 30 exercise minutes.

How MoveTogether uses it.

Exercise Minutes is one of three core metrics MoveTogether reads (alongside Steps and Active Calories). It feeds Workout Based scoring directly and contributes to Raw Numbers and Percentage of Goals scoring.

Non-Apple wearables have equivalents that MoveTogether maps to Exercise Minutes — Garmin calls them Intensity Minutes, Fitbit calls them Active Zone Minutes, WHOOP uses strain duration. The result is a single normalized signal for 'time spent moving at intensity' that's fair across every supported tracker.
