Workout Based

Definition

A MoveTogether competition scoring method that counts only logged or auto-detected workouts — not all-day passive activity. Points come from time spent inside specific workout sessions (running, cycling, strength, etc.).

How MoveTogether uses it.

Workout Based scoring is the natural fit for serious athletes — runners, cyclists, lifters — whose training is structured into discrete workout sessions rather than spread across daily activity. It plays well with Strava, Garmin Connect, Polar Flow, and Suunto, all of which are workout-centric platforms.

It's also the recommended scoring method when WHOOP users are in the competition. WHOOP focuses on strain and workouts (not steps), so Workout Based scoring captures their effort accurately. Step Count or Raw Numbers would under-count WHOOP users.
