Roast Mode
Definition
A Coach Mo coaching style that delivers sarcastic, data-grounded motivation instead of supportive encouragement. Toggle on or off in Coach Mo settings; works with any of the five Coach Mo personalities.
How MoveTogether uses it.
Roast Mode is the antidote to the 'you got this!' fitness coaching style. Mo uses your actual activity numbers and competition standings to roast your effort, specifically, personally, with humor. The intent is motivation through honest accountability, not abuse.
The guardrails: Roast Mode never targets your body, weight, medical conditions, or things you can't change. It roasts effort and choices, the workout you skipped, the streak you broke, the friend you said you'd beat. Toggle it on or off anytime in Coach Mo settings.
Roast Mode is a toggle rather than a personality of its own. You still pick one of the five, and the roasting layers over whichever you chose, so Drill Sergeant roasting reads nothing like Best Friend roasting. It draws on the same activity data as ordinary coaching, which is exactly what keeps it specific: it can only roast you about the week you actually had. If it stops being funny, switching it off takes one tap in Coach Mo settings and nothing else changes. Your personality choice, your history and everything Mo remembers stay exactly as they were.
Roasting is not confined to the chat window. Pro accounts also get the Weekly Mo Report, which pairs a recap of the week with auto-generated Roast Cards, visual summaries built for sharing straight to Instagram Stories or TikTok. Those cards use the same voice and the same guardrails as the chat, so a card can tease the four days you skipped but never your body. If Roast Mode is switched off, the report and the cards still arrive, just written in whichever of the five personalities you picked.
