Move League
Definition
MoveTogether's weekly recurring competition loop. Every Monday at 00:00 UTC, you're placed in a fresh cohort of up to 30 people at your tier. Top finishers promote up the ladder, bottom 5 demote, middle holds. Ten tiers from Walker to Legend.
How MoveTogether uses it.
Move Leagues are MoveTogether's answer to 'what's there to do every week, not just when I create a competition?' They use the same scoring formula as the Friends (daily) and Global (top 100 weekly) leaderboards, move_calories + exercise_minutes + ROUND(steps / 100), summed across the seven-day week.
Leagues are free on every account, no Pro paywall. The 10-tier ladder gives long-term fitness a narrative: Walker → Jogger → Runner → Strider → Athlete → Sprinter → Champion → Elite → Master → Legend. Reaching Legend is a months-long arc.
The week runs Monday to Sunday and resets at 00:00 UTC, so the boundary lands at the same moment for everyone in a cohort no matter where they live. Promotion counts vary by tier and tighten as you climb: fifteen promote out of Walker, but only three out of Master. Demotion is the bottom five at every tier that has somewhere to fall, which is all of them except Walker. Legend sits at the ceiling and so has no promotion at all, only the bottom five dropping out each week, which is what makes holding it an achievement rather than a destination.
