What's new in MoveTogether 2.1.1

2.1.1 routes every tracker through Apple Health, adds Home Screen widgets and Siri, and opens October Havoc. Here's what changed and why.

Four friends of different ages stepping out together on an evening walk, each checking a fitness watch on their wrist.

MoveTogether 2.1.1 is on the App Store. The big change is where your data comes from. Every tracker now reaches us through Apple Health, and you choose which one counts.

It also puts your rings on your Home Screen, lets you ask Siri how your day is going, and kicks off our Halloween event. Here's what's new, why we built it, and what it means for you.

Every tracker, one connection

Oura, WHOOP, Garmin, Strava, Polar, Ultrahuman, and Fitbit all send their data to Apple Health now. MoveTogether reads it from there.

Why we did it

Lots of people wear more than one thing. A Watch and a ring. A Garmin for runs and a phone for the rest. When two devices report the same day, something has to decide which number is real.

Now you decide. Pick the device that counts toward your rings, and it wins whenever two of them report the same day. Your rings also keep updating in the background, even with the app closed.

What you do

The first time you open 2.1.1, a short setup walks you through it:

  1. Pick the device you wear.
  2. Turn on that device's Apple Health sync.
  3. Give MoveTogether access to Apple Health.
  4. Choose which device counts toward your rings.
What do you use?
The second step of the setup. Pick a device and the next screen shows how to send it to Apple Health.

Strava sends your workouts to Apple Health, not your all-day steps.

A new tab bar

There are four tabs now: Home, Social, Compete, and Chat. Next to them sits a red + button that holds the things you reach for most.

The + menu
Tap + and the menu opens over whatever screen you're on. Ask Coach Mo sits nearest your thumb.

Starting a competition or asking Coach Mo a question used to mean finding the right screen first. Now it's one tap from wherever you are. Your profile lives on your photo at the top of Home.

Your rings on your Home Screen

Three new widgets let you check in without opening the app.

  • Today's Rings shows Move, Exercise, and Steps with the numbers right on the rings.
  • Week Streak counts the weeks in a row you've stayed active.
  • Competition Standing shows your place with the competition's cover behind it. Long-press it to choose which competition it follows, and tap it to jump in.

Ask Siri how you're doing

Say "How am I doing in MoveTogether" and Siri reads out your rings against your goals. Ask for your rank in any competition by name. Or say "Talk to Coach Mo in MoveTogether" to open Coach.

Ask Siri, or tap a shortcut

The same actions are in the Shortcuts app, and your competitions now show up when you search your iPhone.

Siri phrases are English only for now.

Coach Mo on Apple Intelligence

With Pro on iOS 27, on an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, Coach Mo's everyday replies can run on Apple Intelligence. Turn on Use Apple Intelligence in Coach Mo's settings.

The switch shows up only when your plan and iPhone can use it.

Your message and your coaching details go to Apple's Private Cloud Compute servers, and Apple says it doesn't store them. Roast mode, game plans, and rich cards stay on the standard engine.

Mo also knows which tracker you use now, so its advice fits what you actually wear.

Competitions lead with the race

Open a competition and the standings are right at the top. Tap any day in the daily breakdown to see how its points added up.

The activity feed tells the story of the competition now: workouts with their stats, ring streaks, new leaders, and close races, with four reactions on every post. If something crosses the line, you can report it.

October Havoc

Our Halloween event runs all of October. Your points count double every Friday, and on Halloween too.

Be active on 20 days to earn the October Havoc badge. The top three of everyone who gets there win a place badge. Everyone can join, from the Compete tab.

More accurate rings

A ring should mean you moved. Some trackers log all-day movement as exercise, which could put hundreds of Exercise minutes on a day with no workout.

  • All-day movement from a tracker like Oura no longer pads your Exercise minutes.
  • A day with no workout tops out at 60 Exercise minutes.
  • Workout Count competitions credit any day your Apple Watch Exercise ring passes 15 minutes, even with no workout saved.

Also in this release

  • App reminders are capped at three a day. Messages from people, like DMs, mentions, and invites, always come through.
  • Choose a challenge shows the challenges you finished this month, and a full history keeps every one you've ever completed.
  • Data Sources loads faster and shows today's numbers for each metric, including your workouts.
  • A tie in a competition is always settled by who joined first.
  • League results land by 6 a.m. Eastern every Monday.
  • Hiding your real name now covers older feed posts too.
  • A long list of bug fixes.
