What's new in MoveTogether 2.1.0

2.1.0 lets you pick your own challenges, build a competition by talking to Coach Mo, and score in new ways. Here's what changed and why.

MoveTogether 2.1.0 is on the App Store. You choose your own challenges now, and the points decide who wins the month.

You can also set up a competition by talking it through with Coach Mo, pick from new ways to score, and export your activity as a spreadsheet. Here's what's new, why we built it, and what it means for you.

Choose a challenge

Five challenges sit in front of you. Each one is worth points, and harder ones are worth more. Pick the ones you want and hold up to three at a time.

Choose a challenge
Sample challenges and points. Pick up to three, swap the rest.
  • Don't like one? Swap it for a fresh one, up to three swaps a day.
  • Finish a challenge and its points bank themselves. A new one takes its place.
  • The highest score in your group at the end of the month wins.

Why we did it

A race needs someone to chase. You're ranked in a group of about 50 people instead of against everyone, and whoever is in first place sits at the top of the screen, so you always know who you're after.

Set it up with Mo

Start a new competition and tap Build with AI. Tell Coach Mo what you want and it builds the competition with you, one question at a time.

Sample names. Tap an answer or type your own.

Every question has buttons too, so you can tap the whole thing out without typing a word. Nothing is created and nobody is invited until you tap Create, so you can walk away halfway through and nothing happens.

New ways to score

Not every group wants the same race. 2.1.0 adds options for groups where fitness levels differ, or where turning up matters more than going hardest.

New scoring options
Sample target. Two new scoring modes, plus the group goal and workout goal switches.
  • Personal Goal. Everyone picks their own target inside a range the host sets. Each day scores how much of your own target you hit, up to 100, so a beginner and a marathoner can race fairly.
  • Stick To It. One point for every day you hit the goal. Miss a day and you just don't score it.
  • Group goal. Switch it on when you set up a competition, and everything the group does also adds up to one number you chase together.
  • Workout Count finish line. Set a target number of workouts. The race still runs, and everyone who reaches the target gets marked as finished.
  • WHOOP Strain. If you wear a WHOOP, you can score on your daily Strain.

The finish line came from how people actually plan. "We're all doing 20 workouts this month" is a goal, not a race. With a target, everyone who gets there finishes, and the two competitive ones can still fight for first.

WHOOP Strain competitions have since been retired. You can't start a new one, and existing ones finish their current round and don't repeat.

Coach Mo reads your competition

The Coach Mo card on a competition now works from the real thing: the scoring rule, the standings, how far ahead and behind you are, your daily points, and how past rounds went.

Mo's competition read
Sample insight. Mo writes yours from your own standings.

So it can tell you that you're 40 points off second with four days left, not something that would be true of anyone. Before this, the card only knew your rank and how many people were in it.

The Friends tab is now Social

Your leagues, the global board, and everyone you're racing all live in this tab, so it got a bigger name.

The Social tab
Sample names. Moving now includes people in your league, not just your friends.

The Moving now row at the top shows who is out there today with their rings filling. It now includes the people in your league too. A friend shows when they were last active, and a league mate shows their rank. Tap anyone on the League, Friends, or Global board to open their profile.

Finished competitions keep their cover art

A finished competition in your history keeps its artwork, grayed out, so you can tell at a glance what's over and still recognize it.

Active and finished
Sample competition. Same cover art, and the finished one is grayed out.

Export your activity

Go to Settings, then Export a report. Choose a date range and the metrics you want, and you get a CSV file you can open in any spreadsheet.

Export a report
Sample dates. Only metrics you have data for are offered.

It only offers the metrics you actually have data for in that range, so you never tick a box and get an empty column. A day that didn't sync comes through blank rather than zero, so your averages tell the truth.

Rings that explain themselves

Data Sources now counts every tracker you've connected, including the ones that sync straight from the cloud and never touch your phone. A Garmin or WHOOP setup shows what it's feeding instead of a column of zeros.

Data Sources
Sample setup. A cloud tracker counts as a source now.

And if you wear a strap with no step counter, Home tells you that Move and Exercise come from your workouts, so empty rings don't leave you guessing.

Since 2.1.1, every tracker reaches MoveTogether through Apple Health, and Data Sources is built around that: it shows the device that counts toward your rings and today's numbers for each metric.

Chats in half the space

Your Chats is a clean list now instead of a stack of big photo cards, so you can see your conversations and the way into Communities without scrolling.

Your Chats
Sample conversation names.

The activity feed's reaction bar got bigger buttons too, and all four reactions are on screen.

Getting help is quicker

Reaching us used to mean digging through Settings. There's a Help button right on Home now.

Help on Home
Sample name. One tap from the top of Home.

Coach Mo has read the help center too. Ask where the invite code goes or how points work and you get a straight answer, and those questions don't use up your Coach Mo trial messages. Those stay for actual coaching.

Since 2.1.1, Help lives in the red + menu, which you can open from any screen.

Signing up asks about you first

New members now get asked what usually stops them from staying active. The next screens show how MoveTogether works around those answers, and then they pick a tracker.

What usually stops you?
Pick as many as you like.
