The "new" MoveTogether — what changed in this rebuild
The app you used to know was a different MoveTogether. Here's what the rebuild changed: scoring, leagues, Coach Mo, pricing, and what it means for existing users.
If you used MoveTogether before this year, the app you opened a few months ago is not the app you're opening now. We rebuilt it. Most of the visible surface area is new, the scoring is cleaner, leagues are in, and Coach Mo is the conversational layer it was always supposed to be.
This post is the honest version of what changed and why.
The big picture
Old MoveTogether was a competitions-only app with a handful of scoring methods and a pricing model that was complicated to explain. The newer build is a native iOS app — written in SwiftUI, not React Native — with three layers that work together instead of side by side:
- Competitions — head-to-head, weekend, weekly, monthly, team, and custom formats. Same idea as before, better picker, faster setup, real-time leaderboard.
- Leagues — a recurring weekly engagement loop on top of competitions. You're placed in a cohort of around 20 users at your tier and promote or demote each week. Walker through Legend, ten tiers total. Read more at /features/leagues.
- Coach Mo — an AI fitness coach with long-term memory, five personality presets, weekly Mo Reports, and an optional Roast Mode if you want your coach to actually call you out. Covered at /features/coach-mo.
Scoring is simpler
The old app had a longer list of scoring methods. We cut it down to the ones that actually produce fair, hard-to-game competitions: Ring Close Count, Percentage of Goals, Raw Numbers, Step Count, and Workout-Based. Each one is documented with what it measures and when to pick it on our glossary.
We also deliberately did not add HRV or VO2 Max scoring. Both are great personal metrics, but they aren't fair as competitive scoring axes (we wrote up the reasoning in a separate post).
Pricing is now two tiers, not three
Free and Pro. That's it.
- Free stays free forever. One active competition, one active league, Apple Health integration, basic Coach Mo access.
- Pro unlocks unlimited competitions, all wearable integrations (Garmin, Fitbit, Oura, WHOOP, Strava, Polar, Suunto, Ultrahuman), Coach Mo's full memory and Mo Report, and Roast Mode.
Pro is $12.99 / month or $99.99 / year on Apple. If you sign up on the web instead it's $9.99 / month or $79.99 / year — Apple takes a cut of in-app purchases that we pass back to you when you skip it. There's also a 90-day Founders Annual plan at $59.99 / year (web only) that locks in that renewal price forever. Full breakdown on the /pricing page.
Wearables: Apple Health plus eight dedicated integrations
You don't need a fancy wearable. Apple Health covers Apple Watch, Tonal, Peloton, MIRROR, 100+ fitness apps, and the iPhone's own motion data. If you do have a non-Apple wearable, we have dedicated OAuth integrations for Google Fitbit, Garmin, WHOOP, Oura, Strava, Polar, Suunto, and Ultrahuman. Pixel Watch joins via the Google Health API.
The wearables hub is at /features/wearables.
Android is coming
We're targeting a Q3 2026 Google Play launch. Pixel Watch ships on day one via the Google Health API; Samsung Health is a post-launch follow-up. If you're an Android user, the waitlist is at /android.
What this means if you used the old app
Your account, your data, your competition history — all of it carried over. Friends list intact. Streaks intact. If anything looks off, the fastest path is /contact and we'll fix it.
Everything else is just better. The app is faster, the scoring is fairer, leagues give you something to grind on between competitions, and Coach Mo actually remembers conversations now.
Welcome back, or welcome — whichever applies.
Stop reading. Start competing.
MoveTogether is free on the App Store. Bring whatever wearable you've got — or just your iPhone.
