Health Connect

Definition

Android's shared store for health and fitness data. Fitness apps and wearables write to it, and other apps can read from it with your permission. It is the Android counterpart to Apple Health.

How MoveTogether uses it.

On Android, Health Connect is how every device reaches MoveTogether. Samsung Galaxy Watch shares through Samsung Health. Garmin, WHOOP, Oura, Polar, Strava, Ultrahuman, and Google Health / Fitbit / Pixel Watch share from their own apps once you turn sharing on there. You then pick which source counts toward your rings. No wearable? Your phone's own step count works too.

MoveTogether reads steps, active calories, and workouts from Health Connect for your rings and competitions. Android and iPhone friends compete on the same leaderboards with the same scoring. MoveTogether for Android is in open beta on Google Play.
