Captains take turns choosing teammates before the start. A clock keeps it moving, and everyone in the competition can watch.
Captain draft is a way to make teams in a MoveTogether team competition. The host starts the draft before the competition begins. Each team gets a captain, and captains take turns picking teammates, with 60 seconds per pick. If a clock runs out, the app picks the fastest member left. When the last pick lands, the teams lock.
How a draft runs
Set it up once when you create the competition. The draft itself takes minutes.
- Choose Captain draft when you set up a team competition. It sits next to Fair split.
- Before kickoff, the host starts the draft. The fastest members lead the teams, unless the host picks the captains.
- Captains pick one at a time in snake order, and the slowest captain picks first.
- Every pick has a 60-second clock, and the captain on the clock gets a push.
- When the last pick lands, the teams lock and everyone hears which team they are on.
Nobody holds it up
Auto-draft
Busy? Switch on auto-draft and the app picks the fastest member left each time it is your turn.
Out of time
If a clock runs out, the app picks for that captain. The host can also finish the draft early, and a draft still going at kickoff finishes on its own.
Everyone gets a seat
Anyone in the competition can open the draft room: who is on the clock, how long they have, the teams so far and who is left. Pace shows as dots, with Rookie for anyone new. Nobody sees anyone else’s numbers.
Questions
Who are the captains?
By default, the fastest members, one per team. The host can choose different captains before the draft starts.
What if a captain is away?
Their clock runs out and the app picks for them: the fastest member left. The draft never waits on a phone in someone’s pocket.
Can people switch teams afterwards?
No. The teams lock when the draft ends.
How is it different from Fair split?
Fair split builds balanced teams for you at kickoff. Captain draft lets the captains choose, live.
