MoveTogether 2.1.2 is out on iPhone and Android. Your chats move into Social, and competitions get a lot more ways to play: distance, sleep, a proper team scoreboard, and group challenges big enough for a whole office.
It also starts Movecoins in the US, gives the friends you invite a month of Member, and lets you tell Coach Mo how much to swear. Here's what's new and what it means for you.
Your chats live in Social now
The Chat tab is gone. Social has two halves, Feed and Chats, and you swipe between them. Direct messages and group chats share one list, newest first, and the Mentions filter collects every time someone tagged you.
Start a new message from the pencil beside Your Chats, or from New message in the + menu. Your friends and your conversations now sit one swipe apart.
Race on distance
Distance competitions score the ground you cover in your recorded workouts. Choose runs, or runs and walks, and the leaderboard ranks everyone by distance.
Want a bar to clear? Set a target people have to hit every day, every week, or across the whole competition, either in one workout or added up. Coach Mo can set one up with you too. Anyone can host a distance competition.
Race your friends on sleep
Head to Head has a new metric: Sleep. Whoever spends the most time asleep wins, and up to 9 hours count each day, so nobody wins by sleeping all weekend. A night counts on the day you wake up, and naps count too.
Sleep comes from Apple Health on iPhone and Health Connect on Android, and only sleep a wearable records counts, not what your phone estimates on its own. On iPhone that means an Apple Watch, Oura, WHOOP, Garmin, Polar, or Fitbit. On Android, any watch, ring, or band that saves sleep to Health Connect works. Sleep competitions are invite only, and everyone in one can see each other's sleep time. Coach Mo can set one up with you. Hosting one needs Member or Pro, and anyone can join.
Teams get their own scoreboard
Team competitions now open with a Your team card that shows where your team stands, and every team gets its own color. Tap any team to see who's on it and what each person has scored. Long lists fold down so the screen stays readable.
See who's climbing
An up or down arrow under each rank shows who moved since the last update. You'll see them on a competition's leaderboard and on the Competition Standing widget. Your streak sits right below the leaderboard too.
Group challenges
Running something for a company, a gym, or an event? A group challenge holds up to 100 people, split into as many as 20 divisions, and anyone with the link can join. Size it by the number of teams, or by people per team.
Tap + at the top of the Compete tab and pick Host a group challenge. Hosting a group challenge needs Pro, and anyone can join one.
Member and Pro, side by side
Tap any upgrade button and both plans sit on one screen, so you can pick the one you want in a single step. Member opens up direct messages, the friends feed, and hosting more competitions. Pro adds unlimited Coach Mo on top.
Movecoins: gift cards for moving
Movecoins is starting to roll out in the US. When it reaches your account, a Rewards tab appears. Turn it on and you collect coins on every active day, with bonus coins for stacking up active days in a month and a welcome gift to get you started.
Pro earns double. You can earn coins at any age, and Members and Pro who are 18 or older can cash them in for gift cards. You earn more for each friend you invite who's active for 3 days.
Movecoins reaches accounts gradually and only in the US. If you don't see a Rewards tab yet, it hasn't reached you.
Invite a friend, give them a month
Friends you invite now get a free month of Member when they join, so they can message you and follow your feed from day one. When they join and stay active, you unlock rewards too: a permanent badge and free Pro time.
Rings from the device you chose
Exercise minutes now come from the device you picked as your tracker, same as Move and Steps. Workouts typed in by hand don't count, so every ring is one you earned.
Set up a new phone and your device choice comes with you. If you reinstall the app, we ask you to turn Apple Health or Health Connect back on so your rings keep filling.
Tell Mo how much to swear
Settings, then Notifications, has a new How much Mo swears setting: Clean, Classic, or Unhinged. It applies to Mo's notifications and chat.
Show us what you're seeing
If you're stuck, support can ask to see your screen. Nothing is shared until you tap Allow, support sees MoveTogether but never your chats, nothing is recorded, and you can tap Stop any time. Support can point and draw to show you where to go.
And when support replies, a badge and a banner show up in the app, even if you missed the notification.
